Midface Lift

New York, NY

Introduction

Midface Lift

A midface lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that aims to lift and define the cheek and jawline. This type of partial facelift is also known as a “mini” lift, as it is typically for younger patients seeking to address the midface without significantly addressing the neck. Patients are typically socially presentable within 2 weeks of surgery and are able to perform most all of their usual daily activities within a week. If you are interested in a midface lift in New York City, contact the plastic surgery office of Dr. Andrew Timberlake.

About Midface Lift

What is a Midface Lift?

A mid-facelift, also known as a “mini facelift,” is a plastic surgery procedure that lifts and defines the cheek and jawline. Unlike traditional facelifts, which target the lower area of the face and the neck, mid-face lifts are more limited and do not address the neck. It is an efficient procedure for younger patients seeking to rejuvenate the cheeks and address the early formation of jowls.

What Are the Benefits of a Midface Lift?

Our patients who have received a midface lift in New York City generally seek this procedure to delay a full lower facelift, addressing the cheeks and jowls before there is significant neck laxity. Incisions are placed in front of the ear, with no incisions placed behind the ears or underneath the chin. The recovery for a midface lift is very rapid.

First steps

Your Consultation

procedure-first-step

The first step in getting a midface lift in New York City is to schedule an in-person consultation. Dr. Timberlake will discuss your medical history, aesthetic goals, and concerns during your appointment. It is important to discuss with him whether you are a candidate for an isolated midface lift, or whether a lower facelift is necessary to address your concerns, as many people seeking “mini facelifts” are not good candidates for the procedure. He will try to manage your expectations by detailing the procedure, its associated risks, benefits, outcomes, and the expected recovery timeline. He will examine your facial contours, describe the incision areas, and detail the deep plane midface lift technique that he will employ to achieve your goals.

What to expect

What to Expect on the Day of Midface Lift Surgery

On the day of your midface lift or “mini facelift,” Dr. Timberlake and his staff will welcome you to the office, get you settled in their state-of-the-art surgical suite, and review your plan. After reviewing the surgical plan, a board-certified anesthesiologist will administer anesthesia throughout the procedure.

Post Surgery

Midface Lift Recovery

Post-surgery, you will be monitored in the recovery room until your anesthesia wears off. Patients typically spend at least one night with one of our chosen nurses, who will assist with their recovery, ice the face, and administer all medications.

Very mild swelling or bruising may occur after surgery but should abate within a few days with proper care and rest.

Patients are recommended to take a week off from work to allow for proper recovery.

Pair Your Surgery

Combining your Deep Plane Facelift with Other Procedures

Yes, many patients do elect to combine their deep plane midface lift with other procedures, such as a lip lift or a brow lift. Patients are highly encouraged to discuss their aesthetic goals and ideas for combined procedures with Dr. Timberlake during their initial consultation so that he can determine whether these procedures might be suitable for your surgical plan.
